Fresh fruits, such as figs, in their seasonal glory, bring forth a unique beauty and elegance that adds to any dish it is a part of. There is something magical about this fruit. Figs that I grew up eating back in India are much different from the ones I find here in the supermarkets. They differ in appearance and texture, however, they both taste delicious. When paired with golden honey, figs create a flavor symphony that is indulgent and remarkably light on calories. This harmonious fusion yields a sensation of freshness and warmth that tantalizes the senses, offering a delightful escape to the heart of the orchard. Sometimes, the simplest combinations can transport us to a place of pure joy, celebrating the pure essence of these treasures from Mother Earth.

Make jam, roast them, or enjoy them fresh. Any way they are going to taste divine. A simple pannacotta with yogurt and honey did justice to these amazing fruits. How would you like to enjoy these fruits? Fresh or cooked?

  • Heavy cream 100 ml
  • Milk 100 ml
  • Honey ½ cup + extra for garnish
  • Gelatin powder 15 gms
  • Water 50 ml
  • Fresh figs 6-8

  • Remove the saucepan from heat and whisk in the bloomed gelatin mixture until it’s fully dissolved into the cream mixture. Allow the mixture to cool for a few minutes, then whisk in the Greek yogurt until you have a smooth and creamy mixture.
  • Pour this mixture into individual serving glasses or molds. You can use ramekins or silicone molds for this. Refrigerate the panna cotta for at least 4 hours, or until it’s set and firm.
  • Before serving, top each panna cotta with sliced fresh figs and drizzle some honey. Optionally, garnish with fresh mint leaves for a pop of color and extra flavor.
  • Serve chilled and enjoy your delicious yogurt and honey panna cotta with figs!
