Ultimate Baked Cheese: Camembert with Truffle and Spices

Magic Ingredient's avatarPosted by

Baking cheese is one of the most inviting ways to indulge in cheesy goodness during colder months. Baked Camembert, for instance, transforms into a gooey masterpiece when heated, exuding warmth and aroma that fills the room. Topped with delightful extras like truffle oil, fresh rosemary, and a kick of chili, baked cheese becomes not just a dish, but a sensory experience.

Imagine gathering around the table with friends or family, sharing a beautifully arranged charcuterie board that boasts a variety of cheeses, cured meats, fresh fruits, and artisanal bread. This communal dining experience allows everyone to explore different flavors and textures, creating a cozy atmosphere perfect for long, leisurely evenings.

baked camembert with truffle and rosemary

Preparation time: 5 minutes
Baking time: 15-20 minutes
Serves: 1-2

Ingredients

  • Camembert 1 whole
  • Truffle oil 1-2 tsp
  • Fresh rosemary 1 sprig
  • Red chili flakes Garlic cloves, thinly sliced
  • Crusty bread or crackers, for serving

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Unwrap the Camembert from its packaging and place it back in its wooden box (or an ovenproof dish if it doesn’t come with a box).
  2. Score the top of the cheese in a crisscross pattern, making sure not to cut too deeply.
  3. Drizzle the truffle oil over the top of the cheese, I mix my truffle oil with a bit of truffle sauce for a burst of flavor. Insert small sprigs of rosemary and slices of garlic into the cuts on the surface.
  4. Sprinkle the sliced chili over the top. Place the Camembert (in its box) on a baking sheet and bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is gooey and molten inside.
  5. Once baked, carefully remove it from the oven and let it sit for a minute before serving. Serve with crusty bread or crackers for dipping.
