Sweets are part of our Indian culture and tradition; halwa is a quick, easy way to make special occasions. A couple of years ago, I created mango malai laddoo (Indian sweet) for a special occasion, and this year it had to be halwa. The leftover mango puree, which I had frozen, went into my halwa. Mango Kesar halwa has to be hands down my current favorite.
What did you do when you did not go for your grocery shopping on time? You search the pantry and fridge to fix a quick meal. I am glad I always keep a can of chickpeas. Chickpeas stew to the rescue on a hectic day.
I have always been apprehensive about cooking crabs. And somewhere deep down, I was also scared. Recently, I put my fears to rest and bought a few crabs home to make some delicious crab garlic butter.
On the 28th of August, I conducted a food styling workshop at one of Dubai’s quirkiest and coolest locations: “Bhukkad cafe.” The workshop was titled “The beginner’s guide to food styling.” The idea was to help people who wish to click fantastic food pictures.
With summer still on, here are my top five salad dressing that can level up your salads. I love adding citrus juice instead of vinegar, which adds flavor to the dressing. Fresh herbs like dill, parsley, basil etc. are a great add on too.
Here is a yogurt-based dessert that is light and perfectly sweet on the palate. Shrikhand is a healthy dessert loved by everyone. The rich flavors of saffron and cardamom make it unique. This dessert is my little contribution to the 75th Independence day celebration of India.
never met a soul who dislikes watermelon. We love snacking on it as a fruit or in a salad. The juice gets loads of makeovers with fruits, soda, or juice of different fruits. It is compatible with different fruit juices, especially citrus, and works beautifully. I love using the clear juice in mocktails. Watermelon margarita and cosmopolitan are a few of my favorites.
It’s wonderful to meet people from different cultures and learn a bit about them. It opens our minds and helps us grow. I find food as an interesting way to connect. Recently I got introduced to a unique dip called muhammara made with roasted red bell peppers and walnuts.
Cheese can be the hero, a prop, or garnish in a picture. Cheese seems to have a soothing effect in a colorful frame. I had some fun and some tense moments while shooting with cheese. It is a slightly tricky ingredient to work with; however, the results are beautiful when done right.
tarted with something else in mind and ended up creating a perfect summer drink with a zing. Mango ginger limeade is sweet, fizzy, and has a kick from the ginger. I wanted to prepare iced tea with some leftover mango puree but instead prepared limeade.
